I'm drawn to the Sundance for the FF and reputation in quality, but Jacuzzi has been getting a lot of attention lately for some nice looking tubs at decent prices. But once agian, I wouldn't put a TP tub out in the snow.

Sundance stopped the lights under the deverter controls on the 800 series?? do you know why??

Perhaps we should all live in a full foam house rather then a t/p house so our bills wont skyrocket in the snow areas.:)

Soakerman

They do now have full foam walls for houses. Just look at this old house. they say its allot better then the old ways because you dont waist heat threw the 2by 4's.

Go figure :P

I grew up in our large family farmhouse (11 kids, like the Walton house) that was built in the late 1800s (upstate NY). When I was a kid I remember when my father shelled out and had foam blown in all the walls. We largely heated with wood during the day but oil at night and for years thereafter my father was always telling people "I wish I'd have done this years ago" as he was always saying how it cut down on heat loss. Of course if one of the pipes ever burst it would have been more difficult to fix it but they must have been put together well so he took that risk (and it never happened).

I think most regular bulit homes today have foam sprayed in them like TP, but the house on this old house had the walls made then shipped to the site. they are FULL FOAM walls with no 2by's they say you lose heat threw the wood, it sounds like they are correct.

I will say that if you do get a TP spa, go with one like arctic has. I hope they get there jet stuff fixed, they look like a nice spa.

Good points as new homes use 6" studs but still have heat loss through them. I like the idea of foam walls as it would also serve as a air infiltration barrier on top of the tyvek housewrap used today.

Tell me soakerman, do you insualte your house by running heated air through the dead air spaces in the perimierter walls to equalize the temp loss?

What do you have for insulation in your home? Do you create a thermal barrier by running your hair dryer 24/7 and use the "extra" heat to fill air space with warm air? Maybe you could duct your clothes dryer through the walls studs? Hey I know, why not just leave your oven on and the door open? My grandma used to do that.

Sure.

I'm sorry, but the TP - House analogy doesn't fit, and is pretty lame. I hear it all the time and it's usally followed by a swarmy superior look, and I just have to shake my head. Sorry. Houses in freezing regeions that do have dead air space in the walls are usually the older houses and were built that way before decent insulation batting was created. Some farmers used to stuff them with old newspapers, wool whatever.

Kinda like how some TP tub owners are stuffing thier tubs with sleeping bags.

Speaking of which....

104 Degrees:

Nope. Don't know why.

"Dont know why what."

I don't know why they stopped the putting lights under the diverter controls on the 800 series.

Ohhhhh You had me confused, as I know you are a Nordic owner, and here we are talking about Caldera and ff and TP and you start asking me about Sundance and what insualtion was better.....

"Where is 104 going with all this?" I wondered ever so suspiciouly. <_<:D

You're on the Cape right? Personally I like the Watkins products and team. Hotsprings, Tiger River, Caldera. :)

Good luck.

I'm in connecticut. i like nordic, my nordic dealer also sells sundance. I was wondering about the full foam and mice. since it seems that full foam is better in the cold i asked you about the sundance.

Well, like I said, I looked at the underside of my 2 year old watkins and if you ever got a mouse infesation in there it wouldn't be becasue the foam was sub standard. If you had mice there, I'd bet dollars to donouts they'd get into any other spa and I bet you'd have mice in your home too. The underside of a Watkins tub is not an issue.

why are getting a new tub?

The crown is 4 years old. i would like better filtration and insulation. I also would like more of a countored seating and better jet placement.

But like i said i like the nordic company and i am waiting to see what they have foe 07. i am looking at others but its not easy to do. there are alot of junk tubs and bad tub companys. i like to ask the people who work on this stuff as the people that ask me about what they want to buy.

Your still considering a Nordic after you admit you had to stuff sleeping bags in there?

I'd look around at the other players in the market. B)

I never did that. I put them on the outside. we got ones the same color as the outside of the tub. It worked great for the 5 weeks we did it. nobody see's the tub, theres no one behind us and it saved us about 4 hundred dollars. i also mainly did it in case it stopped working in 20 below weather.

Would it be better to by a arctic for 15,000 and not be able to use it?? i can go into my tub now can some on here???

Woe.

You wrapped your spa for ONLY 5 weeks and you * saved * $400 dollars? I'd hate to see what you spent.

I'm in New England also, and it cost me less than half that to run my spa for the ENTIRE winter, less than half. That's my $6900 Tiger River Caspain with the molded seats, foot dome and full foam insualition. You don't need to spend $15K. That's outragoues too.

Honeslty, you need to look at another line of tubs.
