jfowler2
Trying to figure out why this controller is creating RFI across my ham radio bands, I noticed after dropping power, and turning it back on, the clock resets to Sunday 12:00A. According to the manual, it should retain the time for 5 to 7 days. Yet, this can't remember for seconds. A quick email to Hayward, yielded an immediate response. There is a battery, and the fix is a replacement board, and that the battery is typically good for 3-5 years. What a crazy implementation, a design guaranteed to keep the money train flowing. Before I drop 800+ dollars for a new control board, I will likely remove it, see if I can identify the battery, and attempt to replace it. I really have nothing to lose. But, this is a royal screw job by Hayward. Something that will always give out, is not field replaceable. Brilliant, just brilliant. And, they are totally clueless as to why the board is creating RFI. They just basically said to upgrade to the newest board.
