1993 hot springs sovereign heat circulating pump not working

Tahoe spa

Recommended Posts

Hello I was curious if anybody could help me out.  I have a 1993 hot springs Sovereign it’s the IH   I got it all wired up and went to fire it up and noticed the small circulating pump next to the bigger jet pump was not working. A square box with the heating elements heated up and the jets fired when button pushed yet no small heat circulating pump. When spa Temperature was adjusted up the heat box got very hot then a little red fuse on the side of the spa pack tripped.would anybody have any thoughts?

The 24 hour circulating pump has failed.

Now a days, we are lucky to get a year out of them (Them being Laing E-5).

The red fuse is a "High Limit Switch" that kicked out because the heater is coming on without any water to cool it.

That machine is 30 years old now, and you may need to think about replacing it.

We expect about 20 years on a portable spa.

In the meantime, make note of the voltage on the circ pump, and replace accordingly.

Got a mouse in your pocket? 🤣 My life expectancy on a spa varies greatly with brand, location, and use. I expect less than 20 on many, but HS builds some long-lasting tubs in my experience. I recently refurbished a '95 and sold it no problem.

@Tahoe spaI worked up there for several years. I wouldn't be surprised if I've seen your spa at some point. Beautiful place. Emerald bay is my favorite, but the drive around is nerve-wracking in bad weather.
