Melted terminal. Can I replace just the plug?

Hi guys, I suspect my trusty saluspa plug got hot and melted from using an extension cord that's not have duty enough. The company replaced my unit, but I'd like to make it a good spare. I saw the replacement plug on Amazon but wondered if I need to replace more burned wire at the same time. Or do I need to open this up to investigate? Thanks! I'm excited to keep this baby running for years and contribute to the community.

I would think you can buy a replacement heavy-duty screw terminal end of sufficient capacity and repair this.

I would also confirm that the receptacle used for this is on a GFCI/GFI circuit.

I also believe the extension cord was an issue; I was of the understanding that one should NOT use an extension cord for a backyard spa or above ground pool though....
