Why all the hype about Bromine?

I mean this with all due respect. I just bought my first Hot tube 400 gallon a week ago trying to get used to it and learn all about it.

Mine came with the Chlorine based Frog @ ease mineral/chlor floater.

The selling point is less chlorine, because of the mineral component part of it.

But is Bromine somehow a better system or way to maintain the spa and does it have benefits over the low dose Chlorine?

My only real beef with this Frog Chlor system is the cost of replacing cartridges every 3-4 weeks at 15-20 bucks a pop.

Thanks guys,

mike

Depends on who you ask. I personally dislike bromine spas, but acknowledge that they are easier to maintain than chlorine in a spa. Several contributors here who use bromine themselves swear by it. It's really a matter of preferrence.

I can't comment on comparing it to a chlorine based system, but I've had my tub for a year or so now and started with bromine using Waterbear's 3 step bromine process.  I would say it's easy, effective, and relatively cheap. One year later and I'm still using the same containers of bromine granules and tablets for the floater.
