LJ26
Hi, I have an Aquarest hot tub. When plugged the screen will turn on, but thd pump won't start. It does a humming sound and click on the circuit board when I press the jets button. I'm fairly new to this and have limited electricity knowledge. Any idea what could be wrong? And how do I confirm it? Thanks in advance!
CanadianSpaTech
Is it new, used how old? Is it (pump) seized? At the back of the motor there is a quarter sized dust cover. Remove it and you will see the shaft of the motor with a slot in it. Use a screwdriver and see if it will turn freely or if it is locked up. LJ26
It's less than a year old. Is it necessary to remove the pump to see the dust cover? Because I don't see it.
RHeller1
See where the wires go into the pump? on the end of that side of the motor, right in the center there will be a dust cap
LJ26
Hey guys, I've quite busy lately and just got a chance to look at this. I removed the dust cap and it turns freely.
CanadianSpaTech
Now try and spin it when the pump is humming. Might need a little kick start. If it starts it likely has a bad start capacitor (under the hump on top of the pump. One is a start cap and one is the run capacitor. LJ26
That was the issue. It started spinning the moment I turned it. Thank y'all for your help. Now let me ask you, my start up capacitor is 300VAC and 50 uf, but I cant find it anywhere. Will a 370/450 VAC work? By the measurements, it fits in the space the pump has designated for it. CanadianSpaTech
How did you fix?
LJ26
So, after changing the capacitor it worked for a few days, but it continues not turning on every so often. I have to manually spin the pump to kick start it. Any ideas what could be the problem?
