RDspaguy Posted January 8, 2022 Report Share Posted January 8, 2022 Sand is easy, but the least effective in that small particles go through. Is most efficient half dirty. Can be easily backwashed. Cartridge and DE filters catch much smaller particles, but are difficult to clean. The type of DE used in pools is dangerous to breath and should not be disposed of or backwashed onto the ground, so a reclamation tank and proper disposal is required in many places, and recommended everywhere, at least by me.
