Raymond81 Posted October 19, 2021 Report Share Posted October 19, 2021 My hottub tripped it's 30 Amp fuses. I replaced my fuses and when I went to start the pump. The circuit board caught fire. I have replaced the board and all damaged wires. But im reluctant to start it up as I don't want this to happen again. I got this used hottub about 6 months and I filled it with water and started it up with no issues to about 15 hours of it heating up all settings of the pumped worked before the fuses went. cranbiz Posted October 19, 2021 Report Share Posted October 19, 2021 The relay stuck closed. That caused it to overheat and catch fire. That does happen frequently, usually on relays that have been in service for a long time. The contacts arc every time they break the connection. Over time, the coating wear thru and then the relay is either prone to sticking or fails with the contacts not conducting. I'm pretty sure that's a heater relay, which won't turn on unless the pump is on, that is burned. As @cranbizsaid, it is usually from simple wear. RDspaguy Posted October 20, 2021 Report Share Posted October 20, 2021 Ok. The 4 "fingers" on the top are heater power circuit. The bottom 2 are everything else. If the burn is behind any of the 3 top right relays beside the 4 fingers it is a heater relay.
