ratchett
I'm on Florida's Space Coast, heavily considered adding a CoolZone to my spa. Luckily you don't *need* to order it with the spa, you can easily add it to your tub after delivery if desired. In my climate, water temperatures in the summer can climb to over 105F due to direct sun exposure most of the day. However I personally like hot water more than cold, so I don't enjoy water temperatures in a hottub below 98F. I thought I would need the cool-zone system to enjoy my tub in the summer, but the reality is I don't need it thanks to my circulation pump. As long as ambient air temperatures are lower than your desired temp, you can throw open the cover for an hour or two and bleed off any excess heat (down to ambient air temps, you can't go any lower without the cooling unit) - since I'm near the coast, our temperatures never exceed 95F even in the middle of summer, so I'm golden. I think it really comes down to your intentions - do you want to drop water temperatures below air temperature, and do you like cold water? Then go for it. In my case I'm glad I didn't buy it, because I'd really have no use for it. Side note - the compressor is actually more efficient than the electric heater for warming the water. As such the Coolzone system lets you choose if you want to use the internal electric heater, compressor, or both to maintain water temperature more energy efficiently. This may help offset costs if temperatures can swing wildly in your location.
