muskokatom
We have purchased a new Dream Maker Stonehenge EZL and will get delivery next week. The sales person did not sell me the DIY Ozonator but did say it was available for about $270 (Cdn) and if I thought we needed it, I could buy it later and install it myself. What are the benefits to adding this feature, and I think we have decided on using bromine rather than chlorine. We are new to hot-tubs as far as owning one goes, and thank you for the add! If there is an alternative system or chemical package that anyone would have advice on, as far as not needing to use an ozonator, bromine or chlorine, I'd be interested to know what works, and hoepfully available in Canada. JimboCh
You could go with one of these, add salt to the hot tub and this machine makes chlorine gases by sending low voltage into the water it makes chlorine gases and keeps your spa crystal clear and super clean, no smell of chlorine or faded swimsuits or damaging your hair. https://www.amazon.com/Saltron-Mini-Saltwater-Chlorine-Generator/dp/B01KQUVJH6/ref=sxin_15_ac_d_rm?ac_md=0-0-c2FsdCBjaGxvcmluZSBnZW5lcmF0b3I%3D-ac_d_rm_rm_rm&cv_ct_cx=salt+chlorine+generator&dchild=1&keywords=salt+chlorine+generator&pd_rd_i=B01KQUVJH6&pd_rd_r=c4123f8b-6d64-4487-9a02-4e0a6b9de861&pd_rd_w=NhTIJ&pd_rd_wg=p4Ftp&pf_rd_p=de2528a5-aaee-45ae-afe7-277ddc135414&pf_rd_r=M3S9S2N5FZNZ5N7VBNY3&psc=1&qid=1634484521&sr=1-1-12d4272d-8adb-4121-8624-135149aa9081
RDspaguy
Ozone is an oxidizer and, with enough exposure, will eliminate the combined chlorine that results from chlorine sanitation. It will also eliminate excess chlorine. It does not eliminate the need for chlorine, or allow you to use less. With bromine it is a source of oxidation to generate bromine from your bromide bank, but it is not terribly effective in most spas. I recommend ozone with chlorine if on a properly plumbed 24/7 injection system. If the ozone is timed, so it only runs during filter cycles, it is all but useless. I don't recommend salt systems in spas. It's fine as long as it is working properly and you don't mind the expense, but it can destroy your spa if used improperly or in the event of a malfunction.
