Frog1
Could the pressure from the new pumps have caused this? Can I fix this or does the heater have to be replaced? 2010 Hot Springs Grandee . Thanks!
Cusser
Is it leaking from the hose/hose clamp, or from the body of the assembly?
Frog1
The body- looks like right where the “cap” meets the larger plastic
Frog1
Water is running from the bottom and dripping off that cap
Frog1
Water appears to be rolling out of that top area on the left
RDspaguy
That is the pressure switch. Not sure if you can find a replacement.
Frog1
I figured y’all would say that, RD. Looks like there’s the OEM at 500 and another popular one for 300 aftermarket. Aftermarket one needs to have a jumper on the board because it has an internal pressure switch and not the original board driven setup? Worth the price difference or stick with OEM? CanadianSpaTech
Should be a o-ring. Gently remove pressure switch and check for worn o-ring. Switch should unscrew
Cusser
If the housing is not cracked, I would think a new O-ring or new gasket might fix the leak. If a gasket, and not available, I might try a thin film of RTV on each side of the existing gasket, or cut a new gasket from rubberized sheet gasket from the auto parts store.
RDspaguy
Uhhh... ok. I've never seen a threaded pressure switch with a gasket. Unless you consider teflon tape a gasket. I have never had one of those heaters apart so can't be sure, but I'm betting a new pressure switch will do the trick. Something like this might work. https://pool-spa-supplies.com/caldera-spas-pressure-switch-2006-to-current-kit-ps-hohs-06-73995-3331?utm_source=google_shopping&gclid=Cj0KCQjwv5uKBhD6ARIsAGv9a-x2az-UccJqgp_jVnjiZsGKzYIR-x-pnP0Tf0DlwBKEuUDY9jPio70aApacEALw_wcB
Frog1
So I pulled the switch out and it looks like RD was right- no washer but it is wrapped in Teflon tape (looks like it was a little deteriorated). Try cleaning it and wrapping again or go with hunting a new one down?
Frog1
Here’s some pics - felt like there could be a washer in a little indentation but it was filled with a white silicone that scraped out.
cranbiz
Use yellow gas line tape. It's a but thicker and more durable than white teflon tape.
RDspaguy
My bet is the switch is leaking, not the threads.
