Inground pool railing

I am wondering if I could mount a handrail directly on the pool coping.  My pool is surrounded by pavers that ARE NOT cemented to the ground.  The pavers are simply placed on a sand surface.  Can I drill into the coping and will the screws hold without damaging the pool?  Here are three photos.  The first shows the railing with a stainless steel plate that is screwed down.  The second photo shows the actual side of my pool by my steps.  And the third photo shows the placement of the railing plate.  I used a sponge to estimate it's location on the coping.  Thank you.
