After a bunch of work, the Home Assistant integration for Hot Tubs with the IQ2020 controller is now available. The hardware integration costs around 30$ US and allows you to monitor and control the temperature, jets, lights. You can lock the spa remote or spa temperature, monitor power usage and more. I personally use it to limit electric use during peek electric prices. All of the instructions, recommended hardware and integration is on GitHub. Search for "iq2020 esp github" and you should find it easily. This is certainly for home automation geeks. If you give it a try, please let me know what you think. I would love feedback.

Thanks for the great writeup. I have a 2011 Hot Springs Sovereign II that has an IQ2020 controller board as well. My controller board has the same expansion daughter board as yours as shown in the GitHub photo, with the same rev # (ASSY 1117701 REV. D). Do you think it's likely to be compatible? This would be a real win as the Orca button pad/display interface on my tub is fried and there are no replacements available -- the alternative is to do the Eagle upgrade for like $1,500 w/parts and labor. The repo heading says "-- Only compatible with 2014 spas and newer --" but the "Known Issues" sections says "Older IQ2020 board used between 2001 to mid-2009 may not work with this integration" indicating that is possible that >= 2010 tubs might work. Any insight appreciated.

Hi. My guess is that my integration will not work on your IQ2020. While you do have a new expansion board, that board is designed to work both with the new model (RS485) and old models (I2C) and my integration will only work for IQ2020 boards that are RS485. At some point, there could be someone that builds an equivalent I2C integration, but it's not going to be me as I don't have the older IQ2020 board.
