branderson9
I have an 03 tiger river with the latest revision main board (77087) and a 2 relay updated heater board. wired for 120v on a dedicated 20a circuit. if i turn on my spa the jet pump cycles for a moment, the control panel lights up briefly, then everything turns off and only the circ pump runs. The D17 light is lit and the HEATER ON light is lit, LIM OK is off, no lights on control panel. 2 brand new Thermistors (79005,79006) both ohm at 8k at around 77*F, same as the old ones i removed. getting 120v to the board, no voltage to the heater. I am confident i have all jumpers and wires placed correctly according to the included documentation. occasionally the control panel red light will blink, another time the control panel read presumably the correct current temperature but did not respond to input. I suspect the main board i bought as 'new open box' is defective? I have a background in automotive and a fair amount of experience troubleshooting logic gate circuits but i need some advice in how to proceed before i go ahead and order another main board. edit: wanted to add that i have tried disconnecting both the heater and the jet pump and get the same behavior. also removed filter. if i unplug the control panel and restart, all 4 lights come on. Thanks in advance for any help.
RDspaguy
Why did you replace the old board? Post a picture of the wiring diagram.
branderson9
@RDspaguy previous owner had spa tech diagnose 'motherboard', I inspected before i bought parts, found a burnt relay on the heater board, replaced that, then gave power and old board showed no life at all, no lights despite receiving power. I'm sorry which wiring diagram? also found the fuse on the old board had a 12ga solid wire wrapped around it.. edit:added pics

No. I'm lying to you for the sheer joy of it, because I have nothing better to do with my time than mess with people here on this forum. I apologize, I am not sure why the .pdf i uploaded to this website are unavailable, likely because my account is new, here are the web links again: #77119 heater board manual: https://www.spapartsdepot.com/content/77119.pdf #77087 main board wiring instructions: https://www.spaguts.com/Documents/Instructions_Wiring_IQ2020_System-77271_Board-77087.pdf i thought you were referring to the pictures i had posted in the thread. If you cannot see the pictures in post 1 and 3 in this thread i'm not sure why that could be, i am able to see them fine. I will post them many more times, many different ways in this comment, i will say that all of these diagrams are alike for the power input for a 120v system please tell me if you can see these pictures now? can anyone else see my pictures?? RDspaguy
It happens to me alot on my phone with a lousy signal and snail internet. Also, if I have to download anything it will not be seen by me. I don't have that much spare time to give to this forum. Did the new board come with the program jumper charts? @castletonia, can you check those jumpers? Should jp9 be on?
branderson9
jp9 is for F* or C*
RDspaguy
Well crap. I was hoping... But it seems your assessment is correct, and you got a bad board or one incompatible with your control. @castletonia, can you shed any light on this matter? Might the "newest revision" board not work with an old topside?
branderson9
I did a bit more prodding today with the help of a local spa tech over text. With the spa unplugged, power cord and heater removed from heater board, and all loads, including topside unplugged from main board i found 63kOHm continuity between 1 & 5(hot& neutral), this led us to believe there was a short on one of the boards. The continuity went away when i unplugged the black/red/white jumper wires between boards, and did not return when i reconnected them. This leads me to believe that there is likely a failed relay on the main board sticking closed? Whatever it is it seems to be a component failure, and it seems to be on the main board. Please tell me if this sounds correct. Could an issue in the topside cause this behavior? these top units are not available, and i can not find any information on how to test one with a meter. Thank you for your help.
2004HotSpringsVanguard
Any luck with determining the root cause on you main board? I am having similar issues and it looks like there are two fuses on it (F3 and another by X2) but I am not sure these are fuses. I cannot find any wiring diagrams to verify the size. My board powers up and several of the leds light and then flicker. After a few seconds the system settles and the display shows all icons. And no red power light. Hess
Hi, I have the same problem with my Tiger River Spa, I have replaced the control board, relay board and had the jet pump motor checked, the problem persists. There is a slight discoloration on the underside of the control board that looks like something is getting hot. see photo. My spa runs on 240ac so the J303 jumper is set to Export, all the relays are 12v, the jumper is set so. When I disconnect the Jet motor the system operates as it should, there is 240 ac on the jet pump output terminal, P19. It seems the load increase when the jet pump starts, is dragging down the control power and causing the unit to momentarily switch off, switching on again when the pump stops. The symptom is the jet pump pulsing on and off and all the heater and recirc pump cycling on and off. On the odd occasion the Jet pump will run continuously after pulsing on and off a couple of times. I am at wits end on this fault. Any help is greatly appreciated.
