Algae in pool ( lots of it )

Ok I will admit got really lazy taking care of an Intex above ground pool. We last used it in October when it was still warm in Texas. Left it uncovered and turned off motor. Need to get rid of the mass algea in the pool. The pool was given to us for free, so if I have to get rid of it then that's fine too. Looking for suggestions.

Buy a pump at Harbor Freight or Home Depot, and drain out the water and start with fresh. When real low, add chlorine to kill remaining algae.

I have a 3500 gallon above ground pool and I need to drain mine; so much rain over winter caused my pH to drop a ton (pH  6.4) and the chemicals won't work as well if pH is off.  I don't have algae, but water needs to be renewed every few years.
