Skippyb
Hi So I bought an older 2008 Beachcomber and the blub in the UV system had water in it so I assumed that it needed to be changed. I went to the Beachcomber showroom & warehouse and their technician said that the bulb costs $140. OK fine. But the older UV systems needed a $150 specialty tool (see item 6), in order to slide down and loosen/tighten the tube (see item 2). He suggested I just upgrade to the latest UV water care system which costs $850.00. No thanks! Also, while the tub was running, I noticed that water was leaking out of the UV Ballast (See item 1), which I assumed could be fixed with a new bulb and o-rings, which again, means I would need the specialty wrench. Question: Does anyone know of a way I can take the install a new bulb without having to buy this stupid wrench? Cheers
Cusser
That tool looks like an oil pressure sender socket for automotive, with a handle welded on. If such socket fits and there's no room for a ratchet wrench on top, I'd try a big Vise-Grips on the socket to loosen/tighten. Specialty tools like that shown are ridiculous !!! Some manufacturers of stuff want to reap all repair labor forever !!!
CanadianSpaTech
Looks like a 12 point socket to me. I would take it apart and see if you can get the bulb out without it. Do not touch the glass on the new one. The oil from your fingers will destroy the bulb. Use the foam that it comes with to hold the bulb.
RDspaguy
What is it supposed to tighten? I don't see any part in that breakdown that the tool would go on.
Skippyb
I could be wrong, but I believe the tool has a hole in the back which allows you to slip the tool over the tube and slide down all the way to the base of the housing. The neck of the tool allows you to reach down into the housing which conventional tools will not allow, if that makes any sense. Because its made of glass I'm afraid to just try any ol thing. Any advice?
RDspaguy
Find out the size of the socket. Cut off the end of a deepwell socket and weld/epoxy it into a piece of pipe (like they did) and weld on a handle. Make extras and sell them on ebay for $100 each. Post the size of the socket so I can sell them on ebay, too.

cranbiz
I suspect this might be a better match. The setup allows a thru hole in the socket and you still have a handle. https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/sockets-ratchets/socket-ratchet-sets/sae-metric-go-thru-socket-set-21-pc-62305.html
