If any one has good ideas for designing a wodden pad or any other hot tub pad please let me know. also has anyone use those handi pands?

I don't know if it was a great idea, but this worked for us in Anchorage, Alaska for more than 7 years: I added a couple of reinforcing beams and posts under our existing standard wooden deck, which was 2x4's spaced 1/4 inch apart for drainage. I believe we used a hydraulic car jack under a beam to raise the deck about a half inch so we could slide the extra beam and posts under the decking where the spa was to be located. Then, I placed two sheets of 2-inch closed cell foam insulation board (available at your building supply store), put our Marquis Spa on it, and trimmed the insulation around the bottom of the tub. We used the spa all year, never noticing any unreasonable electricity bills, and the deck never moved.

We're about to install a Walmart Hydrospa on a concrete pad at our new home in Oregon, and I think I'll use the same insulation board under the spa as we did in Alaska. It can't hurt, and it's cheap.
