Jawendel99
I bought a home a year ago with an existing Hot Tub. The previous owner used a water treatment called "Water Tonic" from Clear Water Choice. Said that's all he uses. It's an enzyme that keeps the water clean. Does anyone have experience using it? Any suggestions?
RDspaguy
O.M.G. 🙄 Please, please, please read about the dichlor/bleach method in the water chemistry section, or really anything ever written anywhere about pool and spa water maintenance. You are begging for nasty and potentially dangerous contaminants to live in your spa and infect you with anything from parasites to legionella. After you have done some basic homework, come back with any questions. Clean that spa with Ahhsome jet and plumbing cleaner before you use it again. Drain and refill.

The company's website speaks of using biomediation, which is not really what they are doing. There is no EPA registration and there are 'testimonials' instead of white papers or other evidence that the produce actually works. These are all red flags. This will not keep your spa sanitized against pathogens. Fun fact, every bather adds fecal matter, urine, and sweat to the small amount of water (compared to a swimming pool) in a tub no matter how clean they THINK they are. Fun fact, sweat is almost identical chemically to urine. Fact, hot tub itch (bacterial skin infection) and enteric water borne illnesses from un or under sanitized water are not fun! Use an approved sanitizer! (Chlorine or Bromine). Enzymes are neither sanitizers nor oxidizers.
