waldorbigbill Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Is there any place out there in internet land where we can go and look at tubs and get reviews from people that own them? Some where you can compare thigs side by side? Starting to feel i'm in a world where evryone is the best as long as it is theirs. Boy they don't make it easy for us newbiews. Thanks Quote
hottub.pool_boy Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Epinions has some info.. you need to weed through the hidden sales bashing. You're right it can be disheartening. Some really good advice is....you'll find a dealer who's genuine, been around for awhile, selling the same brand for a long time, etc, etc, and go with your gut.. the dealer makes a spa great..their support, water testing, chemistry knowledge. Thanks Consumers Digest did comparison ratings of hot tubs. You'll find that information in the March/April edition (I haven't seen it yet, can't find it in local bookstores). The charts are based on information submitted by manufacturers and AFAIK there was no testing or verification. But it would be a way to compare features to help you decide what to look at more closely. Quote

Trigger Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 waldorbigbill I hear you. The frustrating thing is yes, dealers will tell you they have "the best". Some of them are correct, that they are selling some of the "better" tubs out there, but it's a tough thing to quantify, as price, options, budget, personal wants all come into play. Then there are dealer who sell lower end tubs, and will try to convince you that thiers is the best. However, reading reveiws from owners can be misleading as well. Most folks will post reviews of their tubs after just buying them, and guess what, they all love thier tubs, and most of the reviews will tell you that thier tub is the best. I've found by doing your own research; shoppping the local dealers, and talking with both owners and dealers you'll start to get an understanding of what's quality, and what peoples real expereinces are. In addiiton to this site, there is another decent site; "what's the best hot tub" that is a very active site and has many folks - dealers, shoppers, and owners (both new owners and owners who have been around for a while) that can help you steer throught some of the BS and signal/noise ratio. It was mentioned that Consumer's Digest did a review on different tubs, and while this might be interesting, keep in mind, Consumer's Digest is NOT Consumer Reports (sometimes to the casual shopper, this goes unnoticed). Consermer Digest provides paid for reviews and I'd take anything they say with a large grain of salt. shop around, wet test. ask questions. Stay with the major brands, avoid ebay, internet dealers and rebranders, and do business with a dealer with a proven track record. Quote

Also, if you could include a copy of the email sent to you? That type of behavior is a direct violation of the user agreement here. Quote
