Under deck walls & ventilated.. Cover?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2016 Caldera Martinique Hot Tub. The tub is located under my deck. There are walls but no drywall walls.. just wood slabs and a barn door to keep the elements out. I live in the mountains. ...so snow in winter and hot in summer. Do I need to cover my hot tub if the elements can't get in and there is decent ventilation? Can I just keep it open and refill when it gets low?

The cover provides a great deal of the insulation necessary so that your tub will stay warm.    I dont know if your heater could or could not keep up with the heat loss; but it would be terribly inefficient if you didnt cover it, even if it could.

Beyond keeping contaminants out of the water reducing your sanitizer needs,  you'll also end up spending hundreds of dollars more in electricity per year because your heater will be working way harder to maintain set temperature.
