Headers Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 HI, Hoping someone can help Please? I have a 2008 Hot Springs Jetsetter which was working fine until about a month ago when I went out for a dip, turned it on and stepped into cold water. I noticed that the Power light (red) and the Ready light (green) were flashing. The circulation pump was not working and I remember listening to it a few weeks before and noting that it sounded a bit gravely or noisier than it probably should be. So I purchased a new circulation pump, drained the Tub and fitted it along with two new filters and a new ions cartridge. Filled up again and still the same problem. I can hear a couple of clicks then the Power and Ready lights start flashing again. I decided to purchase a replacement Hi limit thermistor and a replacement thermostat for the heater which I have now fitted, to no avail I noted looking at the circuit board the: (LIM OK) led was on Green (HTR ON) - Not lit (CONTROL UNPLUGGED) - Not Lit I couldn’t disconnect the heater from the circuit board as I am not sure how the terminals work, to release the wires, but I put my meter across the terminals with the power off. I got a resistance between the two terminals of 36 ohms, and noted there was a full short between them ie. Not showing open circuit. Can anyone advise me of the next step please or do I go ahead and purchase a new heater which is even more expense when not knowing if it is going to solve the problem. Everything else works fine as I had the main motor changed out last year when the 'wet end' bearing seals failed and jiggered the old motor. And how do I release the heater wires from the two grey terminals on the circuit board? I have been in lock down for the last 12 weeks due to Covid 19 an underlying health problem and the hot tub would have been a relaxing retreat. Thanks in anticipation. Stay Safe! John Quote
ratchett Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 Just a random shot in the dark but does your tub have an Ozonator option? If yes try unplugging it. For some reason Ozonator's cause issues when they start to fail, unplugging them resolves the issue until it can be replaced. But I'm no expert, just a fellow Jetsetter owner. Good luck getting it fixed! Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted May 11, 2020 Report Posted May 11, 2020 Remove filters and leave them out until the issue is fixed. Then reset power without the filters in place. Next...Is the circulation pump working and moving water enough to see bubbles coming up from the foot well.? Test for power coming off the board going to the circ pump. If you have power off the board going to the circ and you can feel the circ humming along check for an air lock in the wet end of the pump. This usually can happen after refilling the spa. To release the wires place a small flat head into the slots just above the wires and press down to release the wires. https://www.thespaworks.com/sites/default/files/hot-spring_spas_owners_manual_2007.pdf Let us know results 1 Quote
Headers Posted May 12, 2020 Author Report Posted May 12, 2020 HI, Thanks for the response. I tried disconnecting the Ozonator and it made no difference. I have tried removing the filters and powering up again still no difference. There is absolutely no response from the circulating pump which is brand new, no humming and no bubbles rising in the tub. When I test the power from the board to the pump it measures 240V. Surely the pump should be turning if it has voltage to it? !! I'm wondering what I can do next? Regards John Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted May 12, 2020 Report Posted May 12, 2020 Is there an air lock? If there is an air lock the pump impeller could be spinning just not moving water. You are right if there is power coming off the circuit board then it should be running. If you verify there is no air lock in the wet end then I would suggest removing the circ pump and getting it in front of you so you can see inside at the impeller and make sure there is nothing stuck in the face of the pump preventing it from spinning and moving water. RDspaguy Posted May 12, 2020 Report Posted May 12, 2020 Is the new pump 240v? If you got a 120v and put it in you fried it. Quote
Headers Posted May 13, 2020 Author Report Posted May 13, 2020 That got my heart rate up, just checked its the correct voltage. John Quote
castletonia Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Hot Spring uses 110v circulation pumps. If you are sending 220v to the circ pump it is fried. Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 If that is the case it wouldn't send 220V just because you have a 220v pump. The board will still only send 110v. Check the old one. 1 hour ago, castletonia said: Hot Spring uses 110v circulation pumps. If you are sending 220v to the circ pump it is fried. Quote
Headers Posted May 13, 2020 Author Report Posted May 13, 2020 I just been and fetched the original pump which i changed out when the problem first began. See attached the original pump says 240v ? Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Can you post a photo or 2 of the circuit board there may be a fuse just below where the circ pump attaches to the circuit board. See #13. I am not a big Hotsprings guy and some boards I see have it and some don't and not really sure what it protects but I have seen it where the circ pump is wired into it 1 Quote
RDspaguy Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 For a guy who claims to not know much about hot springs, you sure know alot about hot springs... 1 Quote
Headers Posted May 13, 2020 Author Report Posted May 13, 2020 Well Funny enough, I went out again and tested the Voltage for the pump and discovered what maybe the fuse. I haven't checked the fuse yet, but I took another photo. When I put my meter across the terminals and said it was 240Volts, that was to the other side of the fuse. If i test the black wire to the actual pump I get 0 Volts. We could be onto something here. I reckon it could be a fuse that blew when the original pump went. John Quote
Headers Posted May 13, 2020 Author Report Posted May 13, 2020 Bingo! A blown Fuse. Now replaced and she fired up straight away. Must have blown when the original Circulating pump gave up. Just want to say thanks to everyone for the assistance, this is a fantastic forum. I cannot thank you enough. Stay Safe! John 1 Quote
CanadianSpaTech Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 Woo hoo finally now RD knows what that fuse is for. Glad you got it going. Please send your Visa number to....lol. Might want to test the original circ maybe it was the fuse all along and the original pump is still good. Enjoy 1 Quote
