Thomas Bornaschella Posted May 5, 2020 Report Share Posted May 5, 2020 I added an 2nd skimmer to my in ground pool ( 25k gallons ) I have a 1.5 hp motor, my question is do I need a more powerful motor. The skimmers do not seem to be sucking the water down. Very low suction. 2 inch piping on the skimmersback to the filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated... RDspaguy Posted May 5, 2020 Report Share Posted May 5, 2020 Proably not. You will of course have less suction off of each. This is fine, you only need strong suction from a single port when you vacuum, which is why they usually have individual valves. If no valves, plug off one skimmer when vacuuming. Also, suction is a matter of flow, so if your filter is dirty, needs service, or is too small to handle a higher flow rate you will lose suction as well.
