badd dadd
Seems that I have the opposite problem that most are having. I cannot get the Alkalinity to get above 40 without jacking up the PH. Using the Taylor test kit on a 500 gal. Royal spa, Bromine system with Ozonator, Circulating pump runs 24/7. Calcium Hardness 200. I tried one procedure from here; get the PH around 7.2 and add baking soda to get the Alk up around 80 and then adding a little acid each time to get the PH to 7.5. PH does come down eventually but by then Alk is back to 40. Is there a better way to do this? The PH and the Alk seem very stable when it gets there but the saturation table is out of whack by then. RDspaguy
Get rid of the bromine. Bromine has a ph of 4, and in a continuous feed system will drag down ph and alk. Adjust alk to 100 ppm before you even look at your ph. Use acid sparingly, a little goes a long way. Use ph neutral sodium dichlor 1tsp per person after each use. Leave cover open for 30 minutes to allow chemical fumes to dissipate. See if that helps your alkalinity issue.
