I have 5 years old BR fiberglass pool in Reading, Pa and whitening/bleaching/discoloration is happening at alarming rate now. Contacted BR and they replied. They call it hybrid scale which is similar to calcium scale but doesn’t react to any chemical removal. They sent me Pool Tiger device to put on filtration line and see progress over the next few month. I just did. I feel we should go to litigation and get them to redo gelcoat on all our pools.

Did anyone on this board find some kind of resolution to the gel coat discoloration? Anything at all?  At the end of the day this is probably a Calcium Sulfate issue. It has to be a chemical to help with breaking and extraction. I also wonder if I open a claim with my home insurance company and let them deal with BRP. My problem is finding somebody who can replace the gelcoat.

Hello,

We installed a Barrier Reef Pools October 2016, within 12 months notices white spots on floor, shell colour coming off along with going white just above water line

I am having no luck getting warranty, wont return calls or emails and agent that sold the pool says not his problem,

Pool has been maintained each month by pool cleaner and water samples taken and recorded, pool cover on when not in use.

Looking to find other people with the same issue with Barrier Reef Pools to find out if you got warranty or if you made a claim with Office of Fair Trading.

Looking at getting people on board to have Barrier Reef Pools investigated for selling pools they know have gel coat faults.

Hello

We have the same problem with our pool - installed end of 2017 and started turning white in 2 years.    Have heard of many people with similar problem.   Interested if anyone has been successful in litigation.

Spot on Sandra, just need a decent lawyer that has one of their pools with the same issues

There are so many affected pools but to take them to NCAT it is 1 on 1. Or more correctly you against BRP with their “independent “ experts that just happen to also have a BRP email address… SERIOUSLY!

it’s really hard to call out their “fake truth”.

Linda McGrath,

I installed a Barrier Reef Pool September 2016, within 12 months noticed white areas on the floor... one area actually looked like a huge hand. Waves appearing on the blue walls and above the waterline going white.  I took photos and asked Barrier Reef,  a pool service technician and 2 different pool shop technicians, no one could advise what was causing the deterioration of the gelcoat.

Where are you located and what is your pool shell number?

I have obtained an independent Fibreglass and Pool Specialists report on my pool and am currently going through the process with NCAT.

All things being equal I am hopeful for a positive outcome.

MY pool was installed January 2019. It's been a Train wreck since it was started . Not getting into all my problems. I don't think there be enough room on this site. I have the same problem as all of you. Mine started out a shimmer emerald green.

Above water line looks like it did the day it was installed except the scratches from them installing it.. Water line solid white , and look like a light blue pool through out. Like the sky on a real humid day. It's a Barrier Reef pool. Got the run around for months. Heard all the excuses they could dream up. I finally had enough. Looks like I purchase a vinyl light blue pool. I have a case pending in the courts with the installer. Enough said don't want to go any further on that. We all need to get together with a complaint. You can look on the Santa Rosa Court dockets to see I am for real.

Any help or info you can provide would be greatly appreciated . If I can assist you in any way feel free to reach out. I sure wish you could send me a copy of the report you have on your fiberglass pool.

Respectfully:

Steve Tillery.
