Rusted above ground pool copping

I have a large above ground pool which I’m guessing is 20-30 years old it has new liner new pump and sand filter but the copping has rusted badly and is obsolete there is a alternate one you can now get but is very expensive. Do I actually need that copping or can it be removed and not have any looking for the cheapest alternative as pool still has a lot of use left in it or what sort of cost would I be looking at to have a new one installed using the existing filter and pump
