Sensitivetochemicals
We are looking for a hot tub and like others have posted, it is overwhelming and challenging to get unbiased information. A big concern is the water purification system since we cannot tolerate chlorine or bromine and even have a whole house water filter that takes it out. The second concern is the materials used for the shell - primarily the part we would be touching. We don't want polyester resins. Lastly, overall we don't want materials that outgas VOCs. We are in NC and looking for a hot tub that will primarily be used by just the two of us but we both want to be facing out to the woods behind our house. But we can see our teenage son joining us and our adult children when they are in town. We've liked the size of 6 seat tubs when we've experienced them on vacation. We have 220V wired for the hot tub. So we were looking at Master Spas Twilight 8.2 or 8.3 but then I read some negatives on this site about them. Which other companies should we consider, especially given our chemical sensitivities.
castletonia
I think you would be wise to avoid Master Spas. Too many other quality options out there. Look into Hot Spring, Caldera, Jacuzzi, Sundance, Marquis, Artesian, D1, Bullfrog, and Arctic. No such thing as chemical free. Only EPA approved sanitizers in the United States are chlorine, bromine, and hydrogen peroxide. You can supplement with mineral cartridges, borates, enzymes, and use things like O3 (ozone) or UV, but you still need one of the 3 main sanitizers. Use the dealer locators on the websites of the brands I listed above and find a hot tub that works first, then worry about the chemicals.
