New to the forum,  i haven't really had any issues with my tub in the last 4 years until now.. ive had to drain and refile twice in the last 2 months..we use it 2 or 3 times a week..so i Just refiled my 5 person 300 gallon hot tub again..this time i got test strips to see what was going on.. heard about starting a bromine bank so i put in a 2 oz bromine bank starter pack and i  also found i had 2 or 3oz of powder bromine i put that in as well but i  still get no bromine reading on my test strips..what gives?

Sodium bromide (what you added to your water) doesn't sanitize on it's own. It needs an oxidizer (chlorine, mps, ozone, etc.) to form bromine (a sanitizer). Add @ 6 fluid oz. of plain liquid bleach. That should bring your bromine up to @ 10. Wait until it drops a bit before using tub.

Test and add bleach as required to maintain bromine @ 3. Shock (add bleach to reach 10+) if water starts to look cloudy.
