sonomablue Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 We are within days of ordering a new Sundance Optima. We have looked at numerous spas, at numerous dealers, including a Home Show a few weeks ago. From the beginning, Sundance was high on our list. Now, after more and more research, including recent wet-tests, we know that we want the Optima. We want to go in, checkbook in hand, ready to write the check, and get the best possible deal. I am wondering, what steps, and cover are "typically" included? Let me ask the same question another way. Are the nicer steps and cover, normally an upgrade (and therefore extra cost), or do the dealers typically include a good quality set of steps and cover. In our initial conversations, the dealer has indicated the the price (whatever we narrow that down to), will include EVERYTHING except tax. He said that it includes spa, cover, lifter, steps, delievery, installation, etc. Now i am wondering, WHICH steps and WHICH cover. How have you, or how would you approach the situation, if you were me. I have a set price, that i think the dealer will come down to. He has hinted that he is willing to "talk". But i want nice steps, and a nice cover. what say you all? Speaking of which, is there a huge difference between the I, II, and III covers ? also, can the ozenator be added after the fact (after it is at home)? is the ozenator worth the extra price? It is (so far) the only thing that he indicated is not included. We are tempted to go without it, what say you all? thanks Quote

angler Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I just placed a down payment on a sundance cameo. I have all the included features you listed but after settling on what I think was a good price, was able to convince the dealer to throw in the ozonator to seal the deal. This will supposedly save long-term on chemical usage. Our cover, covermate II we chose over the CM I as it has a lower profile. Our dealer didn't mind giving me this even though it is a bit more expensive. I will say that we live between two sundance dealers, both within 40 miles of our home, which may have motivated the dealer. If you have another dealer nearby, get quotes from both and get them to compete with each other. He also included crane service, if necessary, with the installation. This may be something else to bargain on depending on your dealer's arrangements. Included chemical starter kit seems standard. Find out ahead of time how much the dealer will charge, if anything, for warranty service technician "travel time." The warranty actually allows this! (I think it should be a cost of doing business, like it is with everything else). Maybe this can be negotiated. Everything is potentially negotiable. Good luck. Quote
pmj Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 We recently purchased a new Sundance. It included hand rail, which was already installed on the floor model which we bought, and the Covermate III. The Covers were all standard but it was the coverlifter that was the significant difference, but we had our choice from all 3 styles. Since the covers were the same we decided on the Covermate III because it was the easiest one for a small female to lift if she were going to use it alone. Ozonator was included in price also. They gave us a 6 month supply of chemicals. The 48" nice steps about half price, and the GFI breaker was half price. Installation was also included as well as a pre buy site inspection. We LOVE our Sundance and we LOVE our dealer. Our dealer even walked us through the initial chemistry test and what chemicals to put in when we were ready. He did this over the phone. We have email access to the water chemistry expert , too, which is awesome. Good luck! pmj Quote
