Rlwalker09
Newby here--again-- Had some calcium buildup on surfaces--alkalinity around 180..ph looked ok, 7.8 by the color chart, which I hate but shows OK... but Jacuzzi salesperson says 7.8 too high..So I bought a 200.00 Lamotte elextronic test kit. Have done 3 PH downs so far, PH still 7.8, but alkalinity now 106...According to this tester PH hasnt budged, but alkalinity plummeting... Just trying to eliminate sandpapery feel on the seats...Keep trying PH down?? Thank you!!
castletonia
Yes. Now that your alkalinity is not high, the pH should come down pretty quickly. If the high pH was the reason for scale build-up, lowering the pH should resolve the issue. If it doesn't, then a stain & scale product would be necessary.
