If the pool water is dirty you do not even have to do much just grab the nearest net and skim out the leaves and the debris
floating around in the water. If the water remains dirty clean your cartridge make sure it is not get damaged. If it is damage
replace ASAP

I totally agree with your comment. This is quite fine enough.

First skim off leaves and debris, using abrush remov edirt on the sides and bottom of the pool. Accumulate the sediment towards the main drain which can be easily vacuumed. Remember to clean your skimmer. Check for the water circulation (skimmer, pump, pump stariner, drains and filter) and check for filter (sand, cartridge, grid DE), screen out debris and particlesfrom your pool water. test your pool water regulkarly and add chemicals if necessary.
