chem geek Posted August 10, 2015 Report Share Posted August 10, 2015 No. You should rinse the filter of any cleaning material you used (e.g. TSP, dishwashing detergent, commercial cleaner), but it need not be dry when replaced. I'm not talking about DE filters, but yes, if you are replacing cartridge of filter then you will have to clean it some elements could be trapped in filter that would be harmful for cartridge.
