capecodguy Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 I am a first time spa buyer and have been doing some research in the Cape Cod, MA area. I have narrowed it down to three different dealers and would welcome some feedback/advise. Sundance - I have received very positive feedback on their line and am considering the Cameo Model Halfmoon Bay Spas - They tell a good story but I do not see a lot of information on them in this forum. I am looking at the 898. Great Lakes - GL 7. Any experience or input on these spas would be appreciated. Thanks Quote

I have owned a GL for about 6 years now and it has been a solid performer. But it is an entry level tub and not built quite as well as the Cameo. But it also should be a couple grand less money. Although GL has made some changes to there design and I cannot give much insight on this new shell material or construction method. It also could have increased there pricing. There description on there web site is very changed and very impressive from the past web site and construction method. Quote

The offer I was getting was $6K for the 2007 model. That sound like a good deal to you? Thanks Quote
Tom Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Halfmoon Bay Spas - They tell a good story but I do not see a lot of information on them in this forum. I am looking at the 898. Halfmoon Bay is, if I recall correctly, the house brand of a plastics company in British Columbia, Canada. They make spas for other people and rebrand them, but Halfmoon is their own line. Steve, one of the forum members, worked for them for about 6 months before moving on to another line of work and if you search his posts you may find more info. Quote

That sound like a good deal to you? Thanks Yea I think 6 grand is not to bad for that tub. Maybe you could go a bit less or get a bunch of extras from the dealer. They use off the shelf components that are easy to fix down the road and IMO have proven there value. GL now uses both foam on the vessel and reflective on the perimeter. A good insulation method IMO. Quiets down the tub and holds in the heat during non run time and utilizes pump motor waste heat during filtration to temper the cabinet air space and increase r-factor. No frame...wow thats cool. Quote

Thanks Well I haven't had my tub very long at all....Since around September or so of last year. I do have a GL Forte and I couldn't be more happy with it. I was pleased with the construction and operation costs....I live in Southern Ontario Canada and have had the tub running all winter. The heater rarely comes on when the cover is on and drops a respectable amount when in use. We are in it for 30min increments and the temperature drops from 103 to 102 after 10 mins or so. GL would definitely get my recommendation at this point. Quote

Pathfinder Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I havent seen a Halfmoon in person but I have done a lot of research on them. They appear to be well built the team over there has been in the industry for 20+ years from different companies. So I believe they know what they are doing. But the tubs are not the parent companies focus and they dont have a lot of marketing behind them. A wet test will only tell which tub is the one for you. Quote
