Agent Jones
I just recently bought a used tub with no cover. I ordered a cover but its about 2-3 weeks from being delivered. I am having a deck and patio built for it but it will be a few weeks before it is ready for the hot tub to be on it. so right now its sitting in my back yard empty. whats the best way to make sure the hot tub says in good shape before the deck and cover are ready? should i fill it with water or just put a tarp or temporary cover over it? thanks
Dnepr Dave
Leave it empty until you are ready to use it. Dave
Agent Jones
ok thanks. i was reading another post and it was saying with the hot texas heat it can lead to cracks in the spa if its left uncovered and unfilled
Dr. Spa
It needs to be covered or the sun will destroy the acrylic.
Agent Jones
It needs to be covered or the sun will destroy the acrylic. so covered but unfilled? and what would you recommend to cover until the actual spa cover comes in? Spa_Guru
Any $15 tarp from a hardware store beats letting it stand in direct sun, never put water in a spa that is not on a prepared level and flat surface. If you haven't seen the tub run and heat, leave service acess while you test it on the deck, don't put a railing on the deck yet.
