Costco's return policy may be changing soon. I typically buy everything from Costco (except for spas) due to their generous return policy. I'm assuming they will change their policy because people have been taking advantage of it. I don't have anything against the Platinum Elite spas, but this would definitely affect my decision making process in the future. Just a heads up for folks considering a Costco spa in the future.

No mention Of spas in the articles I read. Plus the people would be granfathered in depending on when they purchase so useing that logic, you better buy a spa quick :)

My local store will be changing the return policy effective 03/12/2007. However this is for electronics only. Spas still covered forever. Also those who purchase before the 12th will be grand fathered in.

Hope this information helps.

It kills dealers here to see Costco warrant things like a spa indefinatly. They can't comprehend it because they could never offer that to their customers, so they just say " it isn't so"

I would just ask them to put one of the spas in the showroom in there car :o I would have made a sale right there :P

Just having some fun with yeah :D

This article was in the news not to long ago....seems it was Costco's own employees abusing the system on electronics...mostly computers.

Costco already has a strict exemption on computers. So I doubt that's it.

"Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund."

The strict exemption on computer came about because costco employees and customers were abusing it. People were buying tv's for superbowl and then returning them there after. Computers were getting returned in exchange for newer models. I actually spoke with the floor manager while I was having my spa loaded on the trailer and this came from his mouth. Who knows...I just know he told me I could return it for any reason....

Yup. But it's not a *new* change. It's been in effect for awhile, long before Jan. (I'm refereing to the original post were folks were guessing why Costco was changing thier return policy). I doubt it's because of electronics and computers.

I wouldn't be surpirsed if Hot tubs and pools and large seasonal ticket items became excluded and played a significant role in the change of policy. I've seen college forums where students were bragging and posting pics of cheap pools they bought for a party and then returned.

Speaking of returns, I spoke to an employee of a large home improvement chain that has a very liberal exchange policy and he had a few great stories:

- The customer who returned his Christmas tree Jan 15.

-Another customer who bought a lawn mower in April and returned it in November for a snow blower. Next april he was back to return the snow blower and picked out a new lawn mower. When he came back in Novermber to return that and get a snowblower, they put the brakes on his busiseness.

LOL. I have a VERY wealthy relatavive. When ever he goes out to a resturant he does this.

I went to visit him once and he took me out to dinner. He insisted I ordered Iced Tea.

"Why?"

"Because they won't put the sugar pack dispensor on the table unless you order tea or coffee"

"But I want a beer"

"You are getting Iced Tea"

Not wanting to jepordize my goiod standing in his will, I didn't argue with him and I ordered an Iced tea and watch him clean out the sugar packets and stuff them in his coat pocket.

Amazing. 35,000,000.00 and still wants those free sugar packs.
