melthecatt Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Please help Doctor, spa here is my problem. I have a Gulf Coast spa 1 year old haven had a problem Till now. The heating element went south and they sent me a new one. Went through the steps to install it and the GFI keeps tripping. If I remove the two power cables the tub runs fine, checked the circuit board and I have 240Volts but If connected to the heating element the GFI trips. Do you think I got a bad new element or is my GFI cooked? Also how do you check to see is a Flo Thru element is good? Thank you Arthur Quote
Chas Posted March 3, 2007 Report Posted March 3, 2007 Yes, it sounds like your heating element is bad. To check it - leave it disonnected. Resistance throught the element should be around 12 ohms. Resistnace from either hot lead to ground should be infinite. Quote
