Master Spa Lsx

I just wanted to chime in to this forum after reading over all of the threads regarding Master Spas the last few days. I just want to throw my two cents out there for any potential buyers of there tubs. Out of all the links and threads on this forum I did not see one solid piece of fact as to why the build quality of a Master Spa is so less superior to some of the other top models. All I read was this is my opinion and there sales tactics are shady. What a bunch of garbage and I feel like I wasted hours of my time trying to find some shred of evidence to dissuade my decision to purchase another Master Spa. I would just like to say that if you are in the Metro Detroit area there are a couple very good local dealers that will be happy to sell and service a tub that you purchase from them. I purchased an LS700 seven years ago from one of the local dealers here and have never had one problem with the tub what so ever, not one! I take that back...the light burned out on my fiber optic lighting system. :P Over the past winter my family and I were out of town for a couple of weeks and we had a power outage that somehow tripped the breaker on the tub. Needless to say we came home to a frozen tub and to make a long story short my insurance company is buying me a new one. I have always purchased my chemicals from the same local dealer that I purchased the tub from and they gave me a very good deal on a new LSX. :D I honestly came on to this sight, after doing a Google search, to see if the new Master Spas are as good as my old one and all I could come up with is borderline childish bickering about tub x being better than Master Spa, agian with out one piece of evidence backing up there claim. I would just like to tell any potential Master Spa buyer to make sure that there is good dealer support in your area and don't be fooled by any of the jargon on the internet.

Looking forward to the delivery of my new LSX. Very interested to see how the Solar powered circulation pump works out. B)

There's at least one happy owner of all the crappy brands out there. Glad you've had good luck. I have several customers that haven't been as lucky as you. And they happen to be one of the highest energy consumers in my area.

It's funny that I start a thread basically calling out all the people on here that have nothing but bad things to say about Master Spas and it's just crickets chirping? This is a perfect opportunity to really convince people to buy a different brand. From reading all the other threads on this sight and the "hot tub forum" the argument about power consumption seems to be strictly opinions. There is no real way to quantify the data with out having all the tubs in question in the same environment, running similar cycles. As far as I'm concerned with power consumption if you spend in upwards of $10,000 for a hot tub and are worried about +-$20 a month then you should really rethink your priorities.

I'm not sure how this thread is "calling anybody out" but since you asked the most likely situation is that your heating element went bad and caused the ground fault. It's quite easy to check with a multimeter. Losing power will not cause the breaker to trip.

If anything it sounds like insurance fraud or maybe you have a very good insurance policy. This is the main point that I got from reading your initial post.

Congrats on getting the new tub though.

What response did you expect? You didn't ask a question and you were not looking for feedback; you just wanted to give an opposing view and thats your right. Why should we all respond to that; we understand that not every Master owner is unhappy with their purchase just as not every owner of what we consider to be the better choices out there may be happy with theirs. We look at it as a whole, not based on a single individual's ownership history.

If you expected us all to jump in ridicule your respose I'm sorry to dissapoint you. If you had been looking at Master and wanted feedback I would have responded to recommend one of the many better directions (IMO) but you made your choice and I'm happy its been good for you.

I don't really know what caused the breaker to trip, fact is the power did go out, do to the clocks flashing when we got back. Whether or not that was the cause of loss I don't really know. It was a good enough explanation for the insurance company.

As far as insurance fraud that seems to be a pretty bold statement considering you have no idea who I am, or what I do for a living. I deal with insurance fraud on a regular basis.... it's all about having the proper coverage. I'm sure I'll be around here enough to give my biased opinion on why I think someone should buy a Master Spa.

I won't say it sounds like insurance fraud unless I have reason to think that specifically but otherwise I'd say it sounds like a lazy adjuster who didn't do his homework. My two oldest brothers were adjusters for years and then supervised adjusters. I know from their stories how adjuster's abilities/follow-through/honesty sometimes varied greatly. He could have spent a little time looking into what would cause the breaker to trip and would have most likely found it to be a faulty spa component (heater, blower, pump, ozonator...) and not covered the frozen spa.

It sounds like you not only got good luck with your Master spa but then even better luck with the insurance "investigation" (all 10 minutes of it). Count your blessings so far and cross your fingers on the next one.

Ya I didn't really care for the fraud comment, I've been called a lot of things but thats the first time I've been accused of being a criminal. Coming from a complete stranger I don't put a whole lot of weight to his opinion, yet it was still surprising. As far as a valid insurance claim I actually wasn't sure that it was a claim until I talked to a few higher ups in the insurance industry, again it's all in the coverage. My particular policy covers the loss while other policies with the same carrier wouldn't.

I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I said it sounds more "like" fraud "or" a good policy and I didn't mean it was intentional. I guess fraud was the wrong word. I meant more of what Spatech said that it sounds like something happened to the spa and nobody from the insurance company checked to find out what it was.

Sorry, but you seemed desperate for some sort of response so I read over your post again and gave my opinion on what the situation sounded like.

If you called all of us out, We did not hear....But as i have read this thread,, there are a couple of things i see.

1. you are a newbie that is talking about Master, thats the first red flag

2. If you lost power and it was only 2 weeks and it froze, Not very well insulated tub, I live in the Northwest we have people lose power, and i have not seen this happen after 3 weeks, 4 weeks maybe,,,by that time i have tthe customer start draining it if it is going to be that long,, We had ice storm several years ago, people were out of power 3- 5 weeks, We did not have one customer lose the tub to freezing,,, We had customer who up here have a secondary home and could not even get in here 3 years ago with all the snow. only one had some freezing but nothing happenend to the spa..

But my biggest point here is that anytime there is a newbie on here for Master, they are usually commenting that they are the best, and their facts are not right and when questioned they disappear.. But it has never been on here that their product is crap. The issue was the sales tactics from the traveling spa show...if you check into it more i believe that is what you will see...That is my problem its the practice not the product..

Roger, Kreg , and myself have been on here a long time,, We may not always see eye to eye but i think you will see wew are all very passionate about the industry.. B)B)B)

I don't understand the need to join a forum to try and convince everyone that their brand is best, but with the same token I don't understand why certain members on here run down all others but their favourites.

@THE SPA MAN, good point, a decent insulation shouldn't allow a tub to freeze unless the cover is piss poor but even then most of the heat lose will happen through the base where the insulation should be. Sounds fishy to me.

Just to set the record straight I didn't join here to defend Master, like I said in the first post was just looking for info from other people who own them on whether they are having any problems with them. The first posts I run into have some of the very people responding to this thread saying they would choose any other spa then a master. Obviously that peaked my concern knowing that the one I had worked flawlessly since 2002 and all I read on here is negatives about it. After doing hours of searches and reading I couldn't find one ounce of information as to why this is such a terrible brand of tub other then sales tactics and lack of dealer support. I wanted to inform anyone that may be doing a search that if they are thinking of purchasing a Master in the south east Michigan area to not be scared by any comments made on here and that they would have good dealer support. The apparent anymosity for something that served me very well was troubling and I felt I should throw my opinion out there for whatever that's worth.

I guess calling out wasn't the term I realy meant because I really don't have any axe to grind with any of you, but I did expect a backlash of negativity that was so prevalent in the other threads.

As far as my tub is concerned the cover is original and was in need of a new one for sure and it was VERY cold those couple of weeks here. The reason it happend I have no idea all I know is when I fill the tub it leaks from all kinds of joints and seals that I can see from the one panel being removed. This tub never leaked one drop of water before. When it came down to the insurance company either fixing the known problems to possibly find more in the near future or just replace the tub, they opted to replace it. I wouldn't accept a potential problem with a tub that was in perfect operation prior to the incident.

When you come on to a forum like this you are getting the experience opinions about the guys that have been servicing all brands of hot tubs for 5, 10, 15 years or more or that have been in the industry. Yes you will have some dealers come on here and tell you why you shouldn't buy brand X and buy brand Y but you will get a lot more responses from techs on this forum than sales people. The techs will always tell you first hand that dealer support is very high on the priority list. So if your happy with your dealer and you found a tub that suites your needs specifically, then you found the right brand of tub for you. The fact is all these hot tubs out there work. Plain and simple they heat the water up and the jets come on, some work better than others and some do things better than others as well. If you notice posts put up on here about a certain hot tub having more negative reviews, that's because us techs that go out and fix the tubs notice which ones we have to fix more and let the consumer know what is a more troublesome hot tub than others, and people that have hot tubs as well will post there negative review or there positive review. People will go back and check there old posts and can give facts about a certain brand and opinion about a design issue with a certain tub. I think you just have to ask.

I think the brand X sucks and having worked with an brand X dealer for a couple of years there are customers out there with brand X that never called for service, but the ratio of tubs sold to people calling for service and having problems is high, a lot of service issues.(I'm not going to use the specific brand name with such bold statements like this).

So if your looking for something in specific about your brand of hot tub, then ask the question. Because you can't just expect us to write a novel on why a certain person doesn't like master spas.

I do not.

People come to this site for information and opinions; we give them. I do NOT see members "run down all others but their favourites". Myself for instance will openly say that I'm not a fan of Master, Thermospas (and Cal to a degree) and I do say I prefer Caldera, D1, Hot Spring, Jacuzzi, Marquis and Sundance. Thats typically what you see, a short list of spas a member my not recommend for one reason or another when asked for an opinion abut them along with a list of MULTIPLE brands they like. Nothing wrong with that.

Maybe you're referring to the one individual that is clearly not a Coast fan but if so that clouds your vision. I'm not sure why you let that get to you so much but even though he blasts Coast thats not running down "all others" and he doesn't then promote a single brand from what I've seen.

Please give me an example of members who "run down all others but their favourites".

I didn't mention names so you shouldn't have felt that I was singling you out which I might add I wasn't. And yes we all know about David B, the man has definite issues towards the Coast brand but I wasn't singling him out either though he does promote Jacuzzi when ever possible which I might add is a very good brand. This forum generally promote about 4/5 brands as the ones to buy, yet if you look at the threads which are started concerning a problem part or something not working then chances are nine times out of ten the thread is about these same heavily promoted brands. Personally I don't comment on other brands apart from the two I have personal experience with but I am intelligent enough to know that the top selling 10/12 brands are all decent tubs which do everything required of them with regards to heating the water, providing pulsing jet stimulation and are generally problem free, the real differences among them are possible cost of running and seat/jet arrangement.

I think we are all of the opinion that first and foremost the dealer needs to be good for the whole ownership experience to run smoothly and continue to do so for years to come. Piss poor dealer leads to a horrible ownership experience and often leads to a hatred of a brand which might otherwise be pretty decent and has been a wonderful experience in someone else's hands.

jjk90 - Glad that you are happy with your tub and insurance. Hopefully your insurance rates will not go up as a result of this claim. I must say, like others here, that I am surprised it froze after only two weeks - you may want to add some additional insulation.
