jamesm113
Do most hot tub heaters require the pump to be running to work? Or will the heater operate correctly without a pump running? Thanks, James

Thanks, James yes they do, whether it is a circ. pump or a jet pump "flow" is required for the heater to operate.
Roger
Do most hot tub heaters require the pump to be running to work? Or will the heater operate correctly without a pump running? Thanks, James Otherwise it will boil the water out of the heater tube and burn up the heater.
jamesm113
Okay that's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if they made some heaters with some sort of embedded pump or something. Thanks!
Roger
Okay that's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if they made some heaters with some sort of embedded pump or something. Thanks! The 2 work together. The pump will run without a heater but the heater needs flow through it in oder to heat up. It does this by way of a sensor to detect flow. Once flow is detected the heater will light up whether it's electric or gas.

Is it part of the heater itself or does the control panel handle it?
