Raidan
Hi to all ! I am new to this site and if someone could help me - it will be great. I was away for a litle while and my friend decided to clean the filter with hydrochloric acid so he poured 30 liters hydrochloric acid(40%) in... The filter is for a 150 cubic meters swimming pool and the pool is around 100. Then he Rinsed the filter only for about 20- 30 seconds and let to to circulate. The PH is 7.3-7.4 and the chlorine level is 0.6-1.2. So i am asking is there acid in the water and if it is what should i do ? I want to thank beforehand. chem geek
He rinsed most of the acid away. That's why the pool pH didn't change much. Your pool is fine, though your filter might be damaged depending on the type of filter and whether it is supposed to be cleaned with pure acid that way (most aren't -- for cartridge filters they use dilute acid if there is scale buildup and then get cleaned with TSP).
