FightinTxAg
When seated in my skimmer, my filter is completely submerged below the water surface. The filter cartridge is open at the top. Can't water go unfiltered by entering the filter at the top? Am I missing a plug or something that's supposed to seal the top of the filter and make all water pass through the element? Maybe I have the wrong filter element? It looks like the correct filter element is 6199000. Does anyone know if this filter is supposed to be closed at the top? ChaiSTi
My guess is that it's design to be a bypass should the filter media becomes too clogged up. I don't think most spas filter 100% through the cartridge anyways. Most are tied together with a suction in the foot well.
BigDfromTN
My guess would be you have the wrong filter, or are missing some kind of hold down with a cap. ??? I cant see any water going into the filter if it can flow right over the top. You know the old path of least resistance thing..... As prior poster said, Mine does draw from the foot well as well as the filter area when the main jets are running. But only pulls from the filter for the 24 hr circulation pump. Im sure someone more knowlegeable will be along soon and set us all straight!
FightinTxAg
I called Leslie's, and they had the filter (or a compatible one) in stock. I ran up there to look at it, and it had a closed top. So, I bought it. Guess the one in there currently is incorrect.
Pool Clown
Epoxy a flat piece of something on there and make it a back up.
MMatheny
Epoxy a flat piece of something on there and make it a back up. OR use if for the lower filter (if it holds 2 filters)
