I agree with PC. The builder needs to get this fixed under warranty if it is less than 1 year or they have a good reason to believe that it is not their fault.

My first guess would be the hydrostat. If you vacuumed over the main drain, you might have caused it to partially open and it could be stuck open.

Wow! I forgot to post back on my conclusion with the leak problem. The pool builders came back and checked it out and there is a plug in the skimmer that was not seated properly. Now it makes a big difference. I still add about an inch of water, but once every 10 to 12 days.
