Generally, this could be a number of things. Could be that you have a bad breaker, that isn't handling the load very well and is tripping off. Could be that the breaker (and the accompanying wire) isn't rated to handle the amount of amperage your jet pump(s) is trying to draw.

You'll probably need to get more information to get help for this. Such as, what size breaker you're using, and what amp draw your jet pump is rated at. This could either be an issue for your spa dealer, or a qualified electrician depending on what's going on.

Thanks for your quick response! The spa is a 2005 gulf coast cool night series. It is a Cape Haze single pump with blower. The manual spec is for a 50 amp/gfci with 6/3 wire size. The breaker is a 50 amp GFCI wired with 6/3 wire. The spa ran fine for two months prior to this problem. The spa runs fine on low pump speed, heats up to temp setting, and blower works fine. It trips breaker every time after 30 secs to a min on pump hi speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Seems to me it's probably going to be your pump, but the circuit breaker could be at fault too, and that is probably the easiest and cheapest to change.

If you know what you're doing with electricity, I believe a lot of home improvement stores would have a replacement breaker.

Another thing you could do is measure the actual current draw, and if you aren't handy around electricity then getting an electrician out would probably be the best bet. He should be able to measure the current, diagnose the problem and fix it immediately if it's the breaker. If it's the pump he'll at least be able to tell you that.

Let us know what it turns out to be.

try replacing the breaker with one rated for 60 amp

the #6 wire............I think...........is rated for 75 amps

also, some spas can be altered slightly to allow for operation of the pumps on high with the heater on simultaneously.

Not sure about your spa...........but the Jacuzzi can be wired for 50 amp (heater off when pump on high) or in the manner I described above.

call your dealer..............they should be your primary contact.............then an electrician.

good luck

Turned out it was the heater. I'm guessing it was causing a ground fault situation, because 50 amp breaker would trip when current draw was only 35 amps. anyway its working fine now. thanks again.
