Have 20 x 40 inground pool with fiberglass walls cement bottom. All readings are perfect except for free chlorine, shows 0. Shocked last nite with 2 lbs of super shock per manufacture's instructions for 30,000lbs of water. Shut pump off last nite vacumned this am. Reading for free chlorine still 0. Water is not clear in the deep in shallow end looks good. Did the clarifier also. Should I keep adding super shock?

Do you know your cynauric (sp?) acid level? If it is too high it will cause this problem. I'd hold off on more shock until you determine this. Your local pool store should be able to measure this.

Also to add to Pete...if your pool CYNA acid is too high you will have to empty 1/4 of your water and treat with a supper Souluable to bring it back up...It happened to me....Good Luck!
