needhelp Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 I purchased a 2002 Caldera spa and have had it 3.5 years and the cover is completely water logged. I purchased a caldera cover at the time thinking it was the right thing to do - had a cheaper option from the dealer but did not want to go cheap on such an important component. In the end it turned out to be a waste of money because after 2.5 years is when the problem started. Anyway, looking for a quality replacement cover - any suggestions? Thanks Quote
Chas Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Anyway, looking for a quality replacement cover - any suggestions?First things first. What caused the cover to die early? Do you: Use a floating feeder with bromine Use a floating feeder with Chlorine Put in Dichlor and then drop the lid Have ozone - and if so do you smell ozone a lot? Do you have an outdoor cat? Quote

I user Bromine but put it directly in the filter. It has a ozonator - but I don't smell ozone (I think) not sure what it smells like. No outdoor cat. Thanks Quote
Chas Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 I user Bromine but put it directly in the filter. What type of bromine - powdered or tablet? The tablet type will still eat the cover from the inside - and make it gain weight - even if you put it into the filter. Quote

Did not know that - I put tablets in because that is what the dealer sold me - no idea it would damage the inside of the cover. Will look into the powder option on Bromine. Do you have any recommendations on a good vendor for a replacement cover? Thank you Quote

They make their own covers at the same plant that they make HotSpring covers, and they are fine quality. Should be around $400 give or take, and they may have one in stock, or if not they should be able to get it on a spa order so you pay no freight. Most of the ones I sell last 3 to 5 years, much less if the person uses bromine tabs... If not that, then I like Roberts Hot Tubs covers: rhtubs.com If not that, then Ideal spa covers, and any dealer should be able to help you with that. These last two are going to be custom ordered, so be sure you get the size just right - not all spa models are on file so double check. Quote

BTW - do you have a web site for your covers? Quote
