Hi. We are going to buy a pool. We were going to wait until next summer, but after talking with a sales rep, he said the prices are going up next year due to increased petroleum prices ( Resin is a petroleum based product). The pool is a 30 ' diameter round pool that is 54" deep. Model name Quest. The price installed will be $4600. That includes all the upgrades...and what they call the Lazy man's package...Uprgraded steps..not a ladder, but actually three steps that go down into the pool, an ion filter? that uses a "oil" filter type cartridge...so no sand is needed, solar and winter covers, an automatic cleaner, a triple chamber chlorinator, and the best liner that they offer.

Does this sound like a good price? The pool looks beautiful on their showroom floor. And has all the nice Resin top rail and side posts and bottom ring, so rust is of no concern, the sides are diamond fused with Teflon, so it won't scratch and rust through. Also, if the install the pool the last week of August, how much use will we be getting from it this year before we close it down? We live in Southeastern Indiana. I have to tell him by Friday, This is a special shipment that they arranged because they sold all of their inventory this summer and these will probably be gone after the weekend.

The sales rep is a friend of mine's father, so I don't think he is bull crapping me too much...

Let me know what you pool specialists think please, so I can make an informed decision as to whether or not I want to do this. Also 12 months same as cash financing.

Sorry I got so long winded. And thanks in advance for your input.

Jeff

Jeff,

We installed a 30' pool last summer. I want to say it was the 'Image' pool...it came with tough liner, white plastic (??) heavy duty top rails...there was a guy there that weighed over 300 pounds and he stood on those rails daily to clean it. We saw him, several times. We really researched our pool, deliberated, and went with this one. I'm THRILLED with it so far. The only real problem we have had is moles/voles. It came with the cheap a frame ladder, so we bought the big steps..sooo nice. And we got the critter cleaner which did great for a while, but now we use the WalMart cleaning vac head most of the time. Our pool was $4,800. We let our kids, the kids I babysit, lots of adults and our three dogs swim in it (labs and Bernese Mountain dogs) and it's been great.

personally, I think he is dumping the pool, trying what ever it takes to get a sale. I have several friends who are sales reps for the pool and spa industry, and sales in the midwest this year are terrible. Either folks are hanging onto their money or buying those cheap intex blow up pools instead. South of Mason-Dixon Line sales are good, but anything above that its terrible. Grab it while you can!

Are U kidding? Sales have been super fantastic as we had to double our pool inventory this year! Reordering in the middle of the year is normally not an issue. Intex customers are buying chemicals left and right because of the filtration, and about half will be expected in next year for their first "real pools"! Go Pack Go! Frozen Tundra pool sales.

Sounds like a helluva deal, I'd go with it. Find out what brand/model pump & filter setup you're getting. And DON'T go for a "more powerful" 2 hp pump if the guy recommends it, this is one time when more hp is not good. Go for a 3/4 or 1 hp model and ask them to give you a larger filter. Too big a pump can cause blow-through in the filter.
