D1 Vs. Sundance

I did not see the D1 when I was comparing but I did not like the filter laying sideways in the Sundance, you have to keep rotating it because most of the filtering is at the top only. The dealer tried to tell me it was a better filtering layout, but others did not agree, check the forums and see what consumers say. Hope that helps.

D1 is definitely the best. Best shell & much better water management system. Better power and all the jets can be on at once in a D1. Less maintenance.

Wise words............... from a D1 salesman

I'd first wet test and see if one felt much better than the other.

If they felt the same, I go with the dealer I trust most, that I feel will be there the longest for me, and treat me the way I expect to be treated......... Both are first class spas and I don't think you can go wrong with either.

We looked at D1 for about 10 minutes. I thought the adjustable head rests looked hokey and the cabinet was devoid of style. IMO the fake tiling looked out-dated (like a 10 year old Hot Spring classic). That said, I understand they are well made tubs. It's just the appearance did not impress me enough to linger around waiting for a salesperson to come 'sell' me. I believe there were also a few colored/marbled tubs, but I'd already moved on to the Calderas. If I'm going to spend 8-9K on a spa, in addition to high quality, I want it to LOOK like an 8-9K tub.

Sorry I can't comment more on D1 'internals' but no salesperson ever bothered to approach us at the D1/Caldera dealer so we didn't get the pitch.

Re Sundance - we just purchased a Sundance Optima.. anxiously awaiting delivery in the next week or so. For US it's the perfect tub: comfortable, roomy, excellent therapy, VERY high quality and high-end looks. I have no opinion of the sideways filter.. time will tell. If we're in the tub every day/every other day... rotating the filter once in a while is a non-issue. Maybe I'm wrong here (and someone please correct me if this is the case) but I believe all the jets can be on at once in the 800 series Sundance.

Botttom line is they are both top of the line. The 'better' one would depend on the buyers requirements and how it feels to them in a wet test.

Both are nice and it really depends on which fits you best, Personally I am not much of a Sundance person and myself would prefer the D-1 but in this case it really comes down to what you like best, as they are very comparable tubs.

Hands down Sundance wins.......Bigger spacier spa, better filtration system (Microclean II), 35 gpm circ pump... accusage therapy with dual air controls, great guarantee, aqua terrace water feature and ISO9001

certification. It's worth the few hundred dollar difference for the Sundance

Brulan, are you considering carrying a new line of spas along with coleman, or are you dropping coleman altogether. Either way I would go for the Sundance, but it's a close call.

Really Hands down ? tell me more and also can you please help to understand why when looking at Sundance spas at half a dozen locations that hands down they consistently had the poorest water quality of any spa I have seen. And why is there equipment bay lay-ed out in such a unfinished fashion. Also whose crystal ball are you looking at to know what models are being compared if any when you say the Sundance is a bigger spa. If you can't keep it real than keep it to yourself.

Sundance seems to have a good reputation, but... when we were looking and I asked to see inside the cabinet they were obviously surprised and put out a bit. The insides were comparably speaking a mess, one of the worst. We'd just left an Arctic dealer too, which didn't help. Arctic tubs have the most organized and "clean" layout of all of them. Coleman's (we bought) were/are a close second in that regard but more comfortable for us.

I am not saying these are better, but I would be surprised if you found anything cleaner than the D-1 or Marquis equitment bay, I have not seen the Arctic but if its good I would think than they would all be similar.

I like Jacuzzi because of the name, and Caldera because it is made by watkins. D1 I liked because of the water management system and all of the patents they had. I liked the sundance rep and the D1 rep the best. I think I am going the Sundance route.

As it has been said you have make the choice that you feel is best for you. If I were in your shoes I think I would lean towards Jacuzzi as I think they and the Sundance line are becoming more and more a like and with the general public Jacuzzi does have more name recognition. Are all the company's OK with you keeping both lines on your floor.

They know we are a large volume dealer but this year we didn't even hit the 300 mark and we are about 30 percent off. Alot of it has to do with not being able to hold spas in stock because a majority of the people want it NOW! Also I thought that Sundance, Jacuzzi, D1, and Caldera would all have different selling points than the Coleman. This means that instead of closing 60-80 percent average I will close even more deals because of the different selling features.

Same isues with Coleman here. We are a 3 store dealer here in Ontario Canada, sell 400+ a year and experienced the same delays from Coleman. Our shipments went from the average 3-4 weeks to 10-12 weeks this year. Because of the delays our sales droped over 40%. Brought in Sundance August 1. Looks like we'll be able to make up the lost sales by end of year. We've found Sundance to be very well made, quick turn around on orders. We had D1 on the floor for 2 years, they are a very good premium line, new rep this year that we could not get along with, dropped them after unsuccesfully trying to work things out with Corp. You'll do well with Sundance Brulan1

Do you set up half and half or mix up the tubs. I would imagine half and half. Do you have any pics?
