Maxemily
You need to close the board to new members for a while and get rid of the idiots. Put up a sticky explaining to who ever might want to join what is going on and let's let the kids move on.

Maxemily
Never mind. There's another idiot who thinks spa owners need Cialis.
Nigel
Never mind. There's another idiot who thinks spa owners need Cialis. This is getting ridiculous, what has happened to the moderators? These need to be deleted ASAP. before someone clicks on something that does harm to thier computer. Read this post and the rest of the thread. There's nothing the moderators can do except to clean up when we have time (it's how I spend my coffee break). The spam outbreak has been reported to the board owner and administrators.

jcn
Read this post and the rest of the thread. There's nothing the moderators can do except to clean up when we have time (it's how I spend my coffee break). The spam outbreak has been reported to the board owner and administrators. On a message board that I own and moderate I implemented a rotating "common sense" question during signup (ie. "how many is 2+2" "what letter comes after F" etc) from a pool of about a dozen. It literally cut the number of spambot signups and postings to zero. The "type the following sequence of letters" did nothing for me. The spammers have increasingly sophisticated character recognition they're building into their spambots making that kind of defense about useless. Just something to consider. Maxemily
At what point do you suppose admin will temporarily close the board to new members? When the regulars have all abandon this site?

Dnepr Dave
Yes, they're getting cleaned up. Sometimes I don't see any and other times I see a bunch of them. The spambots never sleep and the moderators have lives outside the forum. Dave
cashews
There are about 20 nasty threads in here right now. Most of them have been there for a couple of days or more. Just sayin'
Nitro
Maybe we need more mods. I'm on here everyday, and I'd be happy to help out deleting the junk.
Dr. Spa
No. More mods is not the answer. The job of a mod is not being a "garbage collector", and until some simple upgrades to the programming is done (CAPTCHA), that's about all we are. It's pointless! I just deleted over 400 messages, and by the time I finished, there were 50 more to delete. I only deleted the messages, I didn't take the time to ban the IP number posting the messages, that would have taken LITERALLY DAYS OF TIME (and besides, that wouldn't have made a difference as they're probably forged anyways). It's a pointless losing battle that can easily be solved by the ADMINISTRATORS (owners) of this board.
