Guest Stephen Young
My pool has been in dry storage throughout the winter/spring and was just set up today (07/02/05). After filling it I used a test strip which indicated that I had low Ph and high alkalinity. I shocked the pool and retested. Now I had high chlorine, good Ph, and high alkalinity. After about three hours the water turned green. My water sourse is a well???!!!???!!!
Guest james
Well water is notorious for having problems. I'd get rid of the strips and get a drop test kit, strips are not reliable. Just run the pump and maybe try a flocculant or clarifier to clear up cloudiness.
Guest calvin collum
More than likely since you use well water it may have trace amounts of copper. When the Chlorine interacts with copper it tends to turn water green. Add metal remover in manufacturer recommended dosage for given brand. Clean filter and vacuum repeatedly. If your total alkalinity is also high this may be the problem. Lower alkalinity with muriatic acid. Write me back and I will tell you the recommended dose for the size of your pool. Very bored Good luck Calvin
Guest Jill
Had the same problem. The iron in our well water turned our pool greenish/yellow after chlorinating it. You can find a "metal/stain out" product in any pool store. Add the correct dosage per the instructions & let the filter run overnight. The pool should clear up within 24 - 48 hours. It happens to us 2 - 3 times every summer. The metal remover works every time.
Guest gina
MY POOL WATER TURNED GREEN ALL OF THE CHEMICAL LEVELS ARE WHERE THEY SHOULD BE EXCEPT AFTER ALOT OF USE THE POOL TURNED VERY CLOUDY, I USED A CLARIFYER 24 HOURS LATER NO CHANGE, I THEN PUT IN A SHOCK PLUS AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS THE POOL COLOR HAS TURNED GREEN. WHAT CAN I DO TO CLEAR UP THIS PROBLEM>(I'M THINKING I ADDED TOO MUCH CLARIFYER). THANKS GINA
Guest Bonnie
You will need to use a metal control product or a pre filter. You have copper in your water.
Guest lorena
My water is green, I went to my local pool supply sotre I was told I have an algea problem, they gave me the chemical that would help het rid of it. I followd the instructions to the point, the water is not as dark as it was before I added this chemical, but it is still green, how can I get rid of this green water. I also need to know if it is ok for my children to get into the pool even thoug it is still green.
