How Long To Heat Up?

Kent Ohio

Pacific Calypso

450 gallons

start temp 45 degrees

finish temp 103 degrees

outside temperature started at 40 degrees and finished at 30 degrees

time was 15 hours or approximately 4 degrees per hour.

Possible formula is 900 minutes = 450gallons x 58 degrees which equals 29 gallondegrees per minute

Therfore multiply your gallons by the degree differential and divide by 25 to 30 and you will have a rough time in minutes for heating up your tub. the outside temp will have a direct affect on your heating time. If it is really cold outsde lean towards the 25 number.

The sundance certa is 340 gallons so it will naturally heat up much quicker as it has 25 - 30% less water.

It will be our first soak tonight.

Our new Sundance Certa only took about 7 hours to heat up from city 56 deg water.

Our neighbor's Hot Springs took over 24 hours to heat up.

Thats a pretty big difference!!!!!

How long do most spas you all have out there take to heat up??

What was the voltage of these 2 spa's? 110V or 220V

Spas that are set up to run with 220V heat up about 4º to 7º per Hour. Spas that are set up to run with 110V take about 24 hrs to heat up. Some spas can be set up either way.

From a post of mine a couple of months ago:

220V 375 gallon Vita Reflections Soria

The power to the spa was turned on @ 10:30 am

The initial water temp was 47.

@ 9:30 pm the spa was 98. We jumped in the tub @ 10pm and it was 100 (set temp). So the heating rate was ~4.6/hour. The manual said it should heat between 3-5/hour so not bad for a day where the high was 49.

Well, my Sundance I wired the best I could: 60Amp, 220V. I don't know what the neighbor's Hot Springs is, maybe: 50Amp 220V.
