m3722 Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 Just got a new tub and love it. I am amazed at how clear the water is, but there are a few flakes of something, floating around in the tub. As I said, very few, but it appears to be flakes of skin. Has anyone else ever noticed that? I am filtering for 2 hours, twice a day, plus the time we are in the tub, which is daily for about 30 minutes. Should I be filtering longer. My filter is a 50 sq.ft. Thanks Quote

Thanks For a new owner with daily use I would sugjest a bit more fiiltering for a while until your use drops a bit. 4 hours for 3 times a week or less, 6-8 for every day use. Quote

The flakes sound like the back of the jets are delaminating or something. Pull a jet out and see if that is the problem. Quote
Rika Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 If it is rubbery it could be excess silicone from construction flaking off. Quote

This is what they call "Scale" and has to do with minerals in your water. We have this problems as well, IF we don't regularly add a "Stain and Scale" prevention solution. (follow the directions on the bottle, but we add 1 ounce- once per week) It helps prevent scale formation on spa surfaces, heaters, and piping. It also prevents stains caused by iron, copper and manganese in your water. Just ask a dealer near you about it .. they'll steer you in the right direction. Good luck! Quote

Some mineral and scale preventers include: Spa Metal X by Robarb spa specialty, Minquest, sparkalizer plus(not sure if that is still around). Quote
