What do you use to raise TA?

Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Exactly the same as TA increaser but a lot less expensive. IF the TA increaser lists it's ingredient as sodium hydrogen carbonate be assured that this is just another name for baking soda. The largest US manufacturer of sodium bicarbonate is Church and Dwight and they supply it to most other companies that repackage it as TA increaser. You might be familiar with one of their consumer brands, Arm & Hammer baking soda. FWIW they also are one of the largest suppliers of sodium carbonate which is sold as pH increaser (but don't use it since it sends TA sky high! It's really only useful when trichlor is used in pool since trichlor is EXTREMELY acidic and causes both pH and TA to crash). You might have seen their consumer brand in the laundry aisle at the grocery store as Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda.  IF your pH is low aerate to raise it. IF it's really low from an overdose of acid (below 7.0) then use borax to raise it (20 Mule Team from the grocery store) at approx twice the amount by weight of sodium carbonate called for on the base demand test. It will have minimal impact on TA and the additional borate added is beneficial for many reasons.  IF you decide to add borate to your tub start a new thread and ask how to do it.
